Integrating Library Resources into Elearning

Integrating Library Resources in Online Environments

University Libraries is committed to the teaching mission of the University.

Even though all WMU Libraries facilities are closed to the public through Saturday, April 25, many essential services are still available and can be integrated into Elearning. These services include reference and research consultation services, document delivery, interlibrary loan, and research instruction are still available.

This guide walks you through the various student and instructor focused resources that can easily be integrated into Elearning.

  • Electronic replacements for print materials: Let us help you find electronic alternates for print resources you might be using in your classes. We can help you vet and avoid copyright issues.
  • Embedded Elearning Research Instruction : It is possible for faculty and instructors to embed librarians into their online learning classes. We can be added to the class using the unique designation of "librarian." giving us permission to add content to e-learning without seeing student grades. We have many learning objects ready and primed for an online learning environment, including videos, screen capture, infographics, and student learning assessments.
  • Learning Glass instruction deliveryLearning Glass is a tool for recording lectures and presentations that allows you to write notes on a lightboard while facing the viewer.
  • Publisher and Vendor Updates for enhanced access to content
  • Remote synchronous/asynchronous video instruction: We are available to meet with your class in real time through WebEx or through E-Learning's Virtual Classroom.
  • Research guides: Research and class guides are curated lists of best research resources available through the Libraries. Instruction and Outreach Librarians have created many for various programs and classes. A complete list of guides is available at this link. If you would like a research guide created for your class, please contact your liaison librarian
  • Individual research appointments: We are available to meet with individual students virtually via chat, text, WebEx, Zoom, Skype, and email.
  • Streaming videos: We provide multiple streaming video platforms that are easily embedded into an online classroom environment.
