RSS in a Nutshell

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's an easy way of staying informed about your field of study or research.  News from the sites you subscribe to is automatically updated in your RSS reader.

You can subscribe to Web sites, blogs, e-journals, databases and even specific searches within a database to stay informed with very little effort.

Most e-mail programs and web browsers have the ability to display RSS feeds, or you can download a reader.  See Wikipedia for a comparison of RSS feed readers.  Once you have decided on an RSS reader, you either click the RSS button on a Web page, or copy and paste the Web address into your RSS reader and you'll automatically receive updates whenever the publisher adds new content to their site.

Click the tabs above to follow links to a few of the databases and journals at WMU that provide RSS feeds.

the URL prefix: http://libproxy.library.wmich.edu/login?url= may need to be added before the URL of the content in order to properly authenticate and connect to the resource.
