Streaming Video Sources: Adding videos to online classes

If you are an instructor follow directions to the right to embed videos from library collections into your Elearning class.

Creating clips and playlists

Video tutorials on embedding videos, creating playlists, and other features using the Fims on demand platform can be found on the Films on Demand Support site.

A helpful tutorial that explains the steps involved in creating clips or playlists of videos in the Alexander Street Press collections.

Embedding videos

All videos in collections licensed by WMU can be used in Elearning, presentations, and other instructional webpages.  Remote (off campus) use of licensed resources requires users to be authenticated into the resource site.  WMU manages authentication with a proxy server.  You may need to incorporate this proxy server prefix ( ) into URLs you embed. See the boxes below for step by step directions. Please contact Off campus Services Librarian Michele Behr ( for assistance.

Alexander Street Press Titles

Alexander Street Press Video Collections include American History in Video, Dance in Video, Counseling and Therapy in Video, Education in Video, Theater in Video, and Opera in Video. Follow the directions below to create a link which can be embedded in an online class or webpage.

1. Select the desired collection, and identify the video you want to link to

2. Click the Embed / Link icon below the video window

3. A new window will open displaying the URL for the video. Copy the entire URL

4. You may now paste this link into your desired location.

Films on Demand Titles

Directions for getting URLs for titles, segments, playlists, and collection pages can be found on the following page:  Using Permanent / Persistent URL Links To Share Content.

URLs created this way should have the WMU Libraries proxy prefix already added.
