Library Search "Expand beyond my Library"

  • Library Search helps you find books, journal articles, videos, and more from the WMU Libraries and beyond. 
  • To find additional materials that may be available in other libraries, check the box "Expand beyond my library" found on the results screen.
  • "Expand beyond my Library" is an index database just like Sociological abstracts is an index database, but the content is from every vendor that agrees to have their metadata included.
  • Like other databases, it lets you discover journal articles and books that are not in our collection and request materials via ILL. 

How to use "Expand beyond my library"

  1. Do a search. In the example images below, a search for "higher education" and "anti-racist curriculum" yields 2,263 results from WMU Libraries
  2. On the results page, select the box "Expand beyond my library"
  3. The search results increase to  3,610 results from WMU Libraries and from other libraries. 
  4. Use Interlibrary Loan to request items that are not available in WMU Libraries' collections.
  5. Most requests for journal articles or other electronically-accessible items will be filled within two business days. Most requests for physical items will be filled within one to two weeks.
