Borrowing Materials from Other Libraries

WMU Libraries provides an excellent interlibrary loan service through its Interlibrary Loan Services. If you identify books, recordings, and articles we do not own, you can request that they be obtained from another library. This service is usually free of charge to WMU students, faculty and staff.

Journal articles are generally digitized and sent to you via email within a few days of your request.

Books and recordings take longer, usually 1-2 weeks, since they are sent by traditional mail.

Materials from Michigan Libraries

You may also use MelCat (the Michigan eLibrary catalog and resource sharing system) to see if any Michigan libraries have an item. Sometimes MelCat books arrive sooner. You may borrow books, CDs and DVDs through MelCat, but not articles.
