Workshop: Find and Access Scholarly Resources Beyond WMU

Workshop Agenda

Welcome to "Find and Access Scholarly Resources beyond WMU Libraries Collection" workshop.

Hosted by Kate Langan, Associate Professor, University Libraries

The University Libraries makes every effort to provide access to the online databases, journals, and scholarly resources needed for teaching and research. Unfortunately, we do not have access to everything.

In this workshop, Kate will demonstrate different search tools to find  and access scholarly materials not available through the WMU collections. This workshop will highlight the following platforms:

We will also walk through the process:

Take these steps to access scholarly articles
  1. Start with Library Search and search "Beyond My Library"
  2. Search MelCat, WorldCat, Google Scholar or Open Access Repositories such as PubMed, ERIC, or DOAJ
  3. Still can't find a full tex version? Request it through Interlibrary Loan. The Libraries cannot guarantee that we will be able to get everything you need, but we will do our very best.
  4. Ask a subject librarian
