Using Mendeley

This guide provides instruction and resources for using the Mendeley bibliographic citation management software to keep track of your citations, create bibliographies and collaborate with other researchers.

Import References from Library Search

Add Files to Mendeley

You can add files to Mendeley by:

  • Dragging and dropping a pdf into Mendeley
    Drag and drop files into Mendeley
  • You can also add files by selecting file and then clicking add files or folder. 
  • Another way to add files is by selecting file and then clicking "watch folder" to choose a folder to put on watch. Mendeley Desktop will now automatically add files that are added to that folder.
     

Export references directly from other Elsevier products such as Science Direct, Scopus and Engineering Village to Mendeley by:

  • When reading an article click the export button then choose "Save to Mendeley"

Install Mendeley Web Importer

Install the Mendeley Web Importer into your favorite web browser to save articles to your Mendeley Library as you browse websites or search library databases.

Please note that the Google Chrome extension of the Web Importer does interfere with the ProQuest eBook Central database, causing eBook pages to load and reload continuously, making interaction with the book difficult if not impossible.
