How to Request Materials fo Pick Up

Western Michigan University students, faculty and staff can now request items borrowed from University Libraries or another library be held for pickup at Waldo Library. During the COVID-19 global pandemic, we will also ship books to your residence (in the U.S. only).

Use Library Search to find the item you want to borrow and follow the instructions below. If you are not logged in to your library account, you will see a yellow bar or button asking you to sign in first. 

BORROWING FROM WMU LIBRARIES

Pick up at Waldo Library

  1. Within the item description in Library Search, click the "Place Hold, Reserve or Recall Item" link in the Physical section. 
  2. Once you have placed your online request, University Libraries will retrieve the item, package it for pick up and hold it at Waldo Library.
  3. You will receive a notice through your wmich.edu email account when the item is ready for pick up. 

Ship to you

  1. Within the item description in Library Search, click the "Request it/Ship it" link in the Physical section.
  2. Add your address to the Notes section in the form and submit the request.
  3. Your item will be shipped to this address.

Pick up at Waldo Library

  1. Within the item description in Library Search, click the "Request it/Ship it" link in the Physical section.
  2. Submit the request.
  3. Once your item has arrived at Waldo Library, you will receive a notice through your wmich.edu email account when it is ready for pick up. 

Ship to you

  1. Within the item description in Library Search, click the "Request it/Ship it" link in the Physical section.
  2. Add your address to the Notes section in the form and submit the request.
  3. Your item will be shipped to this address. 

Your Library Account

Borrowing 

  • You will always need your BNID  when visiting the Libraries and to check out materials, or swipe to print.
  • Initial borrowing period is for the entire current
  • Can borrow up to 100 items
  • Can renew online

Course Reserves

  • Instructors and students sign in to the course reserves system with their Bronco NetID username and Bronco NetID password

Interlibrary Loan 

  • Library Search, ​MeLCat, and WorldCat have automated ILL tools to submit request for  books, chapters, and articles. Most databases do as well.
