What is Open Data

Open Data is research data that can be freely used, reused and redistributed by anyone

Availability: Data should be made available in whole, and at no more than a reasonable reproduction cost.
Access: Data should be available for downloading on the open Internet in a form that is both convenient and modifiable.
Redistribution & Reuse: Data must be provided in a format and under terms that permit full redistribution and full reuse of the data.

The Dataverse Project
Dataverse is an open source web application to share, preserve, cite, explore, and analyze research data. It facilitates making data available to others, and allows you to replicate others' work more easily.
Registry of Research Data Repositories: re3data.org [formerly Databib]
A global registry covering different academic disciplines. It presents repositories for the permanent storage and access of data sets to researchers, funding bodies, publishers and scholarly institutions. re3data.org promotes a culture of sharing, increased access and better visibility of research data.
