Requesting Materials

Place a Hold

You can place a hold on any of our physical items in the library. From the item record page, click on "Place Hold, Reserve or Recall Item." You can either request it to be held at Waldo Library at the Service Desk or, if you live outside of Kalamazoo and Portage, have it shipped to you.

You can also request electronic delivery of a book chapter or journal article that we own. It's the same process as Interlibrary Loan.

Request Materials from Other Libraries

When you want something that you do not have access to, you can place an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) or request it through MelCat (the library catalog for all our partner libraries in Michigan). IIL is best for academic requests and MelCat is better for popular fiction and nonfiction. You can place an ILL request from the homepage scrolling down to the Interlibrary Loan button. To place a request from MelCat, from the homepage go to Borrow and Request and scroll down to MeL Michigan eLibrary.
